We are entering the fourth quarter of our SOUPer Bowl of Caring Game. Last chance to make the score higher and continue our mission to help 'Stamp-out' Hunger.
Sunday, February 4th is also Noisy Offering Sunday. In 2006, we sent $498.00 to ACCESS. Isn't it amazing how coins can create such large numbers? Thank You for your 2006 participation and keep up the good work in 2007. This collection is on the first Sunday of every month. Please make a notation on your 2007 calendar so that you will not be caught without change to support this monthly mission to ACCESS.
During February, we turn our thoughts to the residents of Luther Village with our "Personal Care Closet" campaign. Beginning February 11th, included with our weekly announcements will be a shopping list with suggestions of items needed for the Care Closet. We all have issues with s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g the dollar. Sometimes residents of Luther Village run out of dollars and still have month left. This is where the Care Closet steps in. Residents can go to the Care Closet and secure items such as toilet paper, hand soap (bar or liquid), shampoo, combs, brushes, denture cleanser, toothpaste, razor
blades, batteries, etc. Think about your own daily routine and what items are there that you could not do without and then found that you had no funds to purchase these needed items. A heartfelt Thank You, in advance, for your participation.
Reminders for the month of February: Loose change and Soup for February 4th. Care Closet items during the balance of February and our ongoing projects of plastic/brown bags, ink cartridges, gently-used clothing, outdated telephone books and dead batteries.
Remember all of this helps us to have a warm heart and continue our motto -- "What happens at Ascension does NOT stay at Ascension."
